Installing it well is a different discipline to conventional tiling. Stone must be selected, planned and cut around its veining and movement; substrates, falls and sealing must be considered long before the first piece is laid. Each material behaves differently — limestone is soft and characterful, marble demands precise veining and sealing, and large-format slabs require mechanical handling and a true, flat substrate. We advise on the right stone for the space, traffic and exposure, and source material we trust.
Wells Brothers recommends: seal natural stone before grouting and again after, using a product matched to the stone's porosity.
Pro Tip
Bookmatched marble is oriented across a slab pair so veining flows as a mirror image. Plan the layout before cutting — it can't be adjusted later.
